そもそもATとMTが何かわからない方も多いと思いますが、そのような方でもこんな会話を聞いたことはありませんか？
「今日3回もエンストした」
「右折信号でエンストしそうになった」
ここで先に申し上げますと、主にエンストしてしまうのはMT車です。
それでは、AT車とMT車の違い、そしてエンストとは何かご説明いたします。
■ATはオートマティック車、MTはマニュアル車
AT車とMT車の大きな違いは、運転方法です。
AT車は運転動作がシンプルで、運転が楽です。
反対にMT車は運転時に必要な操作が多く、難しい技術が必要です。
しかしMT車は技術が必要な分、運転している実感が湧いてきます。
さらに技術を高めることによって、AT車に優る快適な乗り心地や、燃費の向上を目指せます。
AT車で自動車免許を取ると、AT車しか運転できませんが、MT車で免許を取ると、AT・MT両方の車を運転できます。
■エンストは故意ではないエンジンストップ
エンストは、英語ではエンジンストールの略で、なんらかのトラブルで、エンジンはONの状態なのにエンジンがかからなくなってしまう状態になることです。
主にMT車で運転ミスした時にエンストします。
MT車では、エンジンで発生した動力を、クラッチペダルというMT車にしかないペダルで、車に伝えたり切り離したりします。
しかしこのクラッチペダルの動作は、感覚でしか分からないことが多く、操作にコツがいります。
そのため、ペダルを踏むタイミングや加減の違いで、動力が伝わらなかったり急に途切れてしまったりして、エンストが起こるのです。
AT車とMT車、エンストについてご理解していただけましたか？
